
To complete Part 1 of your Policy Analysis Project, submit the following information in written format using the headers and subheaders provided below. Your title page, table of contents, and reference page will not be assessed and you are not required to submit it at this time. However, in-text citations should be included where required and you should certainly keep track of your sources for your final project submission. We will discuss methods of citations in class which will be dependent upon your final project plan: written report or class presentation.
Your work will be assessed on writing style (neutral/ojective writing, grammar, syntax, spelling), thoroughness of information provided, and demontsrated ability to think critically and creatively. A rubric for Part 1 will be posted to Canvas soon.
I. Background
Social Problems: Identify the targeted social problem(s) for the program
Problem Evidence: Present evidence and data on the nature and scope of the problem (e.g., severity, number and people group(s) most affected)
Consequences: Discussion of consequences of the social problem (how it impacts people lives, mental health, physical health). Use critical analysis skills and cite your sources of information
II. Goals and Objectives
Your first paraghraph(s) for this section should discuss the goals and objectives of the program. Include discussion on the manifest (stated) goals and objs, and latent (unstated, often evident in policy) goals and objs. After your overview discussion, discuss the areas below (use the subheadings).
Values: What are the identifiable social and cultural values implicit in the policy? Assess the correlations or differences in how the social values are carried out.
Analysis: Critically analyze the goals and objectives (e.g. adequacy, equity, efficiency).
